MyLua Health
Designing a Fertility & Motherhood Wellness Experience from the Ground Up

Project Overview
MyLua is a health and wellness startup focused on fertility, conception, and maternal wellbeing. I was brought on as the Project Manager and Lead UX Researcher to guide the team through an evidence-based approach to building a meaningful product for women trying to conceive and new mothers. We applied design thinking from day one to define user needs and map the path forward.
-
In a dual capacity as project manager and lead strategist, I:
Scoped and managed the entire discovery and research phase
Conducted in-depth user interviews and surveys to build empathy and clarity
Synthesized findings into personas, needs statements, and a validated user flow
Facilitated team alignment workshops to build strategic consensus
Delivered a research-backed product strategy for MVP development
-
Conducted over 25 in-depth interviews with:
Women actively trying to conceive
First-time and experienced mothers
Women navigating fertility challenges and emotional trauma
Distributed and analyzed surveys from over 50 women to gain quantitative insight into:
Information gaps
Emotional and mental wellness needs
Preferred digital engagement habits
-
Identified multiple key personas including:
Hopeful Hannah – trying to conceive and overwhelmed with fragmented information
New Mom Nia – postpartum, emotionally drained, seeking real community and support
Mapped emotional journeys, key frustrations, and functional needs
Unearthed strong demand for safe spaces, culturally competent content, and trusted guidance — not just medical info
-
Facilitated internal sessions to define core product pillars: empathy, empowerment, and education
Created user flows focused on onboarding, support pathways, and emotional check-ins
Defined the strategic roadmap for MVP based on user needs, not assumptions
Collaborated with branding and content teams to ensure emotional resonance with key segments
-
Managed project milestones, timelines, and research documentation
Balanced agile delivery needs with deep discovery work
Aligned cross-functional stakeholders — including founders, designers, and wellness advisors — through structured weekly syncs and workshop recaps
-
Delivered the first full-cycle research report and product strategy for MyLua
Created validated user flows that became the foundation of their MVP experience
Helped the founders shift from feature-first to needs-first decision making
Positioned the startup to build a differentiated experience in the maternal wellness space
Why It Matters
This project represents the power of community-led design. Through deep listening and trust-building with women navigating one of life’s most vulnerable journeys, I helped transform MyLua’s vision into a product rooted in care, clarity, and cultural understanding.
